Nikolaos Maniatis is an archaeological conservator, with a Masters degree in Cultural Management and an innate interest in technology and entrepreneurship. Since 2000, he has been working in the field of cultural heritage, participating in field projects and research programs in the UK, Greece and Syria. In April 2012, he founded Museotechniki Ltd. (museotechniki.com) with the ambition to accelerate industry specific innovation in the field of cultural asset management. Museotechniki was one of the winners of the @Diversity – European Idean Competition Awards 2013 (www.at-diversity.eu), a pilot project launched by the European Parliament and organised by the Commission’s Directorate General for Education and Culture, competing in the “access culture” category with the “museofabber.com – Access to Printable Museum Collections” project.
He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Hellenic Startups Association (hellenicstartups.gr) and a member of the UK National Youth Network of the European Cultural Parliament (kulturparlament.com). Over the years he has been a member of European Working Groups discussing issues related to the preservation and management of cultural heritage. He has also been proposed as a Greek expert by ELOT (The Hellenic Organization for Standardization) to participate in Working Groups of the European Committee for Standardization – Technical Committee 346 for Conservation of Cultural Heritage (CEN-TC/346) on issues related to environment conditions & cultural heritage.
Nikolaos has a keen interest in cultural economics and is a passionate advocate of openness when it comes to technology, data and innovation. He’s also strongly believes that cultural diversity is, for society, as important as biodiversity is for biological evolution.
